Christopher Aggs
Is a painter and printmaker, he was born in 1951 and lives and works in Sussex in southern England. He trained at the City and Guilds of London Art School and the Royal Academy Schools. He has held regular bi-annual exhibitions in London at the Anna-Mei Chadwick Gallery on Kings Road and in Cork St, Burlington Fine Art, Long and Rye, Llwellyn Alexander ltd. His work has been also been shown in juried exhibitions such as the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Royal Society of British Artists, The Discerning Eye, The Lynne Prize.
He had a retrospective exhibition in 2000 at the Worthing Museum and in 2010 was a prizewinner in the National Open Art Competition. His work is in Private and Public collections in Europe and USA.
For the past 31 years he has been a teacher, the greater part of that (1983 – 2011) at what is now the University of Chichester, he retired from this post in January 2012 to concentrate on his painting.
Chris sees himself as a realist painter who prefers to work directly from first hand visual experience of the subject, is endlessly fascinated by the task of translating what he sees into paint and considers that the world in front of his easel contains more wonderful variety than anything he could dream up himself.
Chris is happy to accept commissions, recent assignments include Prize Sussex Cattle in a landscape and a portrait of a banjo!
